Psalm 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

We Walk By Faith Cancer Foundation was birthed during my healing from breast cancer. I am excited to assist others whose lives have been impacted by cancer utilizing support systems, to include but not limited to, nutrition, financial, moral and informational support.

We walk alongside those in crisis throughout their journey towards healing and serve as a support system for families; and we also provide holistic education resources for all ages.  I say, "Cancer has no name on it."

My Walk By Faith

Sandra D. Doyle-Gilchrist's Cancer Story

I Walk By Faith... and I would like to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for blessing me with another day of Life.  ‏It's all about Him and the plan that he has for me and our lives.  Thank you Lord for loving me as I Walk by Faith.

Born in Chicago, IL, but raised as a Southern girl in Winnsboro, Louisiana, I served in the US Navy from 1989-2013 and retired as a Navy Chief, yes, I wore combat boots.  Wow, I'm a Woman of God, Mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, Godmother and God grandmother.  And, a loving Friend.

I must say that my story didn't start with my breast cancer.  I believe in my heart that God ‏prepared me for my journey through the illness and death of my late husband, Jai Leon Gilchrist, who succumbed to his illness on August 18, 2009. You see, my husband was diagnosed with ‏Angio Sarcoma of the Heart ‏(cancer of ‏the heart) a very rare cancer.‏  He was a very healthy and strong man,‏ whom I often joked with that ‏he could eat and do anything that he wanted without worry.

After he passed, I asked God, "Who will take care of me now?" ‏ ‏And he replied, "I WILL".

My Life After He Died From Cancer

‏My son graduated high school, went on to college August 2010,‏ my father died in November 2010 and I was ‏ diagnosed with Stage II ‏Breast Cancer January 2011.‏

During a routine medical visit I informed my doctor of a lump and she replied that, "‏Your mammogram was ‏clear, so don't worry."  I went home and God said, "‏Sandra, If you're going to worry about it, get it ‏checked out."   So,‏ I returned ‏and told her, "‏With everything that I experienced ‏with my husband, check it out‏."

Well, it was Stage II breast cancer... Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 2, HER-2 Positive.  Imagine‏ her shock and ‏surprise.  My doctors and I agreed upon treatment plan to include holistic, chemo, surgery (lumpectomy) and ‏radiation treatment, plus Herceptin for 1 year.

Moving Forward

Moving forward, 7 years later to November 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer again, Micro-Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 1, HER-2 positive which resulted in a mastectomy of my left breast, Latissimus Flap, plus eleven additional surgical procedures. I am Cancer FREE once again.

Can you imagine having to tell your loved ones once again that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer?

God continues to hear my cry and ANSWERS my call and I continue to Walk by Faith.   I prayed and‏ asked God to remove the cancer from my body, cast it into the sea, ‏to where it shall never rise up again.

The Meat Of It All

People often comment on how busy they are with work, family and ‏other STUFF  that prevents them from placing their health as first priority.‏

YES, IT'S TRUE WE ARE SHE‏ROE‏S and HEROES, but, let me share this with you. WITHOUT YOUR HEALTH THOSE THINGS WON'T MATTER.

God, Family and a Positive ‏ATTITUDE were and ‏are key to my healing and I am truly grateful to all for their support as I continue to Walk by Faith.

‏Thank you for reading my story and may God Bless us all!
